Vista problem in dell laptop?

I own a dell inspiro 1420........It has vista home edition
I want to put XP into it but when ever the XP cd loads ,i get the message "harddisk not found"
Also I am not able to partition my harddisk .Ie. cant have multiple drives in Vista

I agree that you should keep Vista, however, XP software & drivers are available for your laptop:

Download the SATA driver & save it to CD or flash drive for installation during the XP install process ... XP will then detect the hard drive.
