How do I activate the bluetooth in a Dell XPS M140 or in a Dell Inspiron E1505?

My laptop and my husband's laptop have bluetooth options (marked by the unlit icon on our keyboard). However, we don't know how to turn it on. We have tried to go to Control Panel and look under Bluetooth devices but we don't show that icon on our control panel. If anyone can help us figure this out it would be greatly appreciated

Bluetooth is disabled by default on many laptops out of the box for security reasons.

Firs thing to check is the BIOS settings (key varies by manufacturor, but delete and tab ar common) on boot up and make sure its not disabled.

If not, then look in your start menu for a bluetooth utility packaged by dell. running that should install the necessary drivers. Also, sometimes installing the software for a bluetooth device (ie, a blackberry) will prompt you to install the necessary drivers.
