KEYBOARD HELP NEED HELP!!?
i recently installed software for a microsoft keyboard elite for bluetooth since then my keyboard hasent been able o connect. my other wired keybord dosnt work eithr. anything will help ty
Before you do any of the following that I mention, I recommend you go to the manufacturers web page and download the newest driver(s) for your exact keyboard make and model, etc. Save it to a location you can remember to find later. I usually save ALL my drivers for everything to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers that way Windows only has to look in one location all the time for any drivers it needs to update. But that's just me =)
Firstly, go to your Device Manager (I'm using Windows XP Home Edition, by the way). If you are using something different, the steps might be different. But anyway, right click on your My Computer and select Properties, then the Hardware tab, then select Device Manager.
Now you can do this next step one of two ways. You can either update your Keyboard driver (when it asks what you want the wizard to do, select the one that says Install from a list or specific location (Advanced). Click Next. Make sure there is a check mark in the box next to Include this location in the search. Then select Browse and locate the driver you downloaded and saved (assuming you did the above mentioned first. Download and save newest drivers for your keyboard). Once you have found where you saved it to, click Next. Follow any instructions, if applicable, click OK, Next, Close, etc...Once updated you can close out of the System Properties box.
Another way is to completely uninstall your keyboard and then restart windows. If your windows is up to date, then it SHOULD automatically detect the keyboard and install it on it's own. You can always THEN at that point update the driver. Which ever way you decide to do this, if you have the updated drivers then it should be no problem either way. One would hope! Good luck, whatever you decide.
