Whats the difference between "touch-sensitive" and "weighted" keys for electric keyboards?
Im looking into purchasing a portable piano keyboard and I'm sensing that "weighted" makes things more valuable than just "touch sensitive" but I dont know what the difference between the two are.
Weighted keys feel like a real piano.
Touch sensitive keys have sensors on each key that measures the velocity (speed) at which you push down. The faster you push, the louder the tone. Without the weight it is very easy to push too fast.
Weighted keys can also have the same sensors for measuring velocity, but you get the added benefit of the nice 'feel' of a real piano.
If you can afford the extra $$$ I would advise you to get a weighted key keyboard.
