I broke my laptop, how do I tell my dad of this?

I broke my brand new Dell 1545 with some crazy clumsiness and spilling Pepsi on my keybaord. I got it about 3 months ago (it had Windows 7), and now it is gone. I tried to dry it out overnight, re move the keyboard, and cleaning it out with a Q Tip and rubbing alcohol... no luck... Now all that is left is telling my dad about the laptop. How would I go about doing this, with the least amount of trouble/yelling/fear, etc?
It no longer has a warranty on it, and we didn't get insurance on it either. I left it at my mom's house - she's aware it's broken - to see if my brother (computer tech) could fix it .. no luck. All that's left is telling my dad.

Just start off by telling him how it happened. He must understand, and no matter what, he will always love you. Maybe you can ask a store to see how much it will cost to fix it. Maybe if it is kind of cheap say you have money to pay for some of it(if you do). Just start off slow.

You can also try and call someone that works with computers and see if its the whole laptop thats damaged or just the keyboard that is.
