The comforting glow of my moon,
Illuminates darkened skies,
Silhouette plain on pale red dunes,
A jackal utters its last cries.

Reminiscent of you, summer's rose,
Withering in this desert night.
You turned away, petals closed,
To await warmth, the day's first light.

But you never felt the sun's kiss,
And would've perished if you had.
Too hot, cold, you weren't made for this,
Mourning you, my colour fades, black.

Insane, I'm lost in my sadness,
Clawing through these harsh, rocky sands.
Still pining for you in madness,
As I feel your thorns slice my hands.

Nothing left of you but star-dust,
I threw you back into the sky.
Where you shone, luminescent at dusk,
To brighten my transparent eyes.

Radiant, you've defied these dunes,
To be my rose, my summer moon.
