Out Vga
How do you find out what type of connection your monitor has (VGA, etc)?
Im buying a new desktop but not with a monitor, i'm using the monitor from my old computer. I need to know the type of connection it has so i can know if the monitor would work with the desktop but i dont know if my monitor is DVI or VGA or w.e. Also, will any computer speakers work with any computer? Thank you.
most older monitors will be vga particularaly older crt monitors.
here's an image guide which shows pictures of different monitor/tv connections which you can compare to the back of your monitor: http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/videoware/dvr2tv.jpg
as for the speakers, yes they should work as long as your computer supports the amount of "channels" supported by the speaker system. for instance you can run a 5.1 speaker system on a 2 channel audio out computer but you'll need to do it with adapters and it won't be true 5.1 sound. however any computer with 5.1 out will be compatable with any speaker system below it be it 2 channel desktop all the way up to 5.1.
Hope this helps.
