what should I set my graphics to on my Dell 1545?
i.e. 800 X 600? or 1024 x 768? And what about the refresh rate? I recently connected this laptop to my tv using a converter, and it changed the settings. Now the desktop looks slightly stretched.

yes that happens b'cos both ur laptop screen and tv screen are different so u have to change the settings....
1)when u connect to tv change ur tv res to 800*6000 and laptop to 1024 u can change using nvidia control panel
2)when u use laptop best use 1024*768 or higher
